Steel String Specifications

Wood Neck Steel String

This model is for the practicing flattop, steel-string acoustic guitar player who needs the authenticity of a real guitar which can stand the rugged abuse of an active lifestyle. It can plug in and go full volume with no feedback and sound like a great big beautiful acoustic guitar. With the on-board headphones amplifier, you can plug in headphones and workout in silence and privacy, no matter where you are.

The neck of the SoloEtte Steel-String model is the standard steel-string guitar neck. The action comes set to the proper string height, and can be adjusted. The assembled frame accommodates a comfortable guitar shape in your lap and balances beautifully. The medium size frame piece, which supports your right arm, is the edge outline of your guitar, and you can rest the weight of your arm on it so your fingertips will hover over the strings right where you would expect. You do not need to use a guitar strap, although it balances well on a strap and the head does not swing down toward the floor every time you let go of the neck, like the other travel guitars. Because the gears are at the other end, this full sized guitar is 5 inches shorter. This reorientation of the gears creates balance and offers superior tuning access, as described below.

Steel String Neck:  The Maple neck and Ebony fingerboard of the wood-neck Steel String model gives this guitar the classic feel and smooth action in a familiar format. The option of the Graphite Neck on the Steel String SoloEtte is the quintessential embodiment of the finest offering of materials and progressive design in the industry today. The Graphite neck, made by Moses Graphite Inc. is a solid structure of cast graphite composite. Awesomely strong and stable, smooth and silky to the touch, clear and resonant. With fully adjustable truss rod.

Both wood and Graphite necks come with standard acoustic guitar fretwire, there are 21 frets. It has shell inlay side and face dots. The scale length is 25 1/2 inches. The nut width is 1 3/4 inches. The string spacing at the bridge is 2 3/16.

Tuning: Tuning from this end is probably the way it should have been all along, but was not available to standard stringed instruments when tone propagation from thin woods would be hampered by heavy tuning mechanisms. Due to the design of the SoloEtte Guitar, the area behind the bridge is available for tuners. A classical guitar pegbox fits perfectly here, does not need to tilt back, and can be made stronger and thicker because the strings are spread wider. It is so nice to hold one string at the 5th fret and keep holding it while you tune the other string until it is perfect. Or tune while holding a chord and keep holding it with your left hand while you tune it perfectly with your right hand.

The Pickup is of our own design. It consists of a hollow tube with electronics and baffles inside. This tube forms the saddle. The strings vibrate the air inside the tube which gives it a rounder sweeter sound than piezo style pickups. And it is stereo for the headphone usage and can go out to a guitar amp or sound system in mono or stereo. You can plug your computer speakers into the guitar. Just unplug them from the back of the sound card and plug them directly into the guitar with the use of the jack adapter provided. This will allow low level, personal amplification that will bring the guitar up enough to play with another acoustic guitar.

This stereo pickup drives the stereo headphones amplifier, contained inside the guitar electronics, and it sends the signal out to a guitar amp, or sound system for performance level volume with no feedback problems. The electronics uses a single 9 volt battery. Average battery life is 36 hours of playing time. (if unpluged after each use, including adapter plug.)

Body wood is Hard Rock Maple (Acer Saccharum) "Canadian Maple" and Padauk is from Andaman Islands (India) or Africa.  It is a rich cinnamon red-brown wood that is very stable.  It sounds the same as the maple models.

Frame is solid ¼ aluminum rod covered w/ black polyurethane tubing
