Tone Controls All on 10
When you roll down the Tone control on a guitar you are subtracting
treble from the original guitar signal. Keeping the Tone control on
10 lets the most signal through to your amp. Rolling down the Treble,
Middle, and Bass controls on a typical amp also subtracts from the
signal coming into it. Keeping the T, M, and B controls on 10 lets
the most signal through to your ears.
The other night I got to playing around with the AX1500 and decided
to compare the drive/amp choices. I used 9 patches for the comparison.
On all 9 B channels, I turned off everything except Drive/Amp which I
set as below. This setup is the closest I've come to getting the same
sound from the AX1500 as when in bypass mode.

OFF Drive
7.3 Level
10 Treble
10 Middle
10 Bass
Then, on each of the 9 A channels, I turned off everything except
Drive/Amp with each of the 9 patches getting a different Drive/Amp
choice. All Drive/Amp choice were set up as below.

This was a pretty cool experiment and I've since tweaked some drive
and level settings to even out volume between the 9. I still have all
the tone controls pegged on 10 however. This has been a great way to
start from scratch with getting a straight drive/amp sound and then
adding other effects.
