Les Paul "50's Wiring"
Many Les Paul users find that this mod retains treble when you roll off with the volume or tone controls. It involves connecting the capacitor wire that comes from the tone pot to output wire (usually the wire to the switch) instead of the input wire (usually the wire from the pickup). On a stock guitar , this means that you have to move capacitor wire to the middle lug of the volume pot rather than to the third lug. ![]() The following is a comment by 'Lewguitar' from a thread on the Les Paul Forum regarding this mod and diagram: Here's why this "mod" works: In diagram #1 (stock) the tone cap is connected to the pickup itself before the output of the pickup passes through the volume pot. |
