Battery to AC Adapter Converter

  1. You'll need a battery clip, a female AC power jack, some heat shrink tubing, a soldering iron and some solder.

Radio Shack sells battery clips for little money, or you could canabalize some other piece of equipment for one. I used the insides of a computer speaker to get the input jack I needed.
  1. Remove the input jack from the circuit board by unsoldering the legs from the bottom of the board or by clipping the legs off from the top of the board.

  1. Cut pieces of heat shrink tubing of various sizes. These will overlap each other when we're done to strengthen the converter.

Remove any extraneous legs from the input jack and bend the two that you will be conecting to the battery clip so that they will not stick out into the heat shrink tubing.
  1. Solder the battery clip red wire to the "pin" connection on the input jack. Solder the battery clip black wire to the "sleeve" connection on the input jack. TEST NOW. You may need to reverse the wires to power your particular pedal. Better find out now before you shrink the heat shrink tubing.
  1. Slide the largest piece of the tubing up over the input jack and apply heat to it. Slide the next largest piece up over the loose end of the first piece and apply heat to it. Slide the next largest piece up over the previous piece and apply heat. You should have a 'stepped' heat shrink combination when finished. Tuck as much or as little of the new converter into your pedal as you like and plug it all up.
