MXR Distortion + Increase Distortion Mod
When I was gave up looking for a how-to to increase the outplut level of my Distortion + and finally asked how to do it on Usenet, I was rewarded with an answer to my output question and this extra mod to increase the level of distortion in the pedal. PARTS: You'll need a 2.2k-ohm resistor, a 0.1uf capacitor , a soldering iron, and some solder.

Open your pedal by taking out the four screws on the bottom. Remove the bottom cover and put it off to one side.

Replace the 4.7k-ohm resistor with your 2.2k-ohm resistor and the .047uf capacitor with your 0.1uf capacitor as shown in the photo.
The capacitor change is to keep the bass response the same with the lower value resistor. See if you like the sound of just the resistor changed or of just the cap changed.
